Get to Know Asta

I'm playful, goofy and love to laugh. My sense of humour can be  dark sometimes. I am a lover of all things cute and fluffy. If you've met me once, you'll know how much I adore my dog. I can't stop talking about him!

These were things I used to try to hide because it didn't fit my idea of of "mature" or people's expectations of me. It took a lot of self reflection, therapy and hard work to come to a point where I'm confident enough in myself to not care how other people see me.

This also meant I started to accept parts of myself that I didn't before. The arts were there as my support, my freedom and my comfort place. I found my voice, my expression and joy in the arts. In the darkest moments, artmaking brought me a sliver of hope. I was able to be all of me within my art.

The woman, the asexual and aromantic, the Asian, the weirdo, and all of these identities that intersect and entangled to make me.

Why Choose to Work With Me?

You want to be yourself. Not just the "best behaviour" self that you show to the world. You want to be the one that's had to stay hidden, that's vulnerable and maybe a little scared. The one who's not always happy, or okay.

How often have you had to leave parts of yourself (your ethnicity, your queer identity, your mental health) at the door? How often have you had to play a role in order to feel safe? It can be hard to love and accept yourself, especially when you live in a world where you are told to keep parts of yourself hidden in order to fit in.

I know and understand how racism, discrimination, sexism, colonial, structural oppression and queer identities can impact our mental health. I know the pain of hiding myself in order to fit in.

I am here to create a safe enough space so that you can feel comfortable to bring all that you are and all that you want to be in our sessions.
